JEDDAH —
Prominent writer and freelance journalist associated with Saudi Gazette for a long time, Ahmed Wahaj Siddiqui, breathed his last in the holy city of Madinah on Wednesday after a long illness.

Siddiqui also wrote a commentary on the Holy Qur'an in English and Arabic and regularly wrote articles in the Muslim World League journal.

Originally from India, Siddiqui migrated to Pakistan but was staying in the Kingdom for over five decades.

He was a founder member of the Pakistani Journalists' Forum and a very active champion of Saudi-Pakistani friendship.

Recently, the forum's office-bearers Ameer Muhammad Khan, Muhammad Jameel Rathore, and Shahid Naeem had visited ailing Siddiqui at his son's residence in Jeddah.

Siddiqui was hospitalized in Madinah and was laid to rest in Jannatul Baqi near the Prophet's Mosque after the Fajr prayer on Thursday.
