KUWAIT CITY — All vaccinated expatriates can travel to Kuwait, beginning Aug. 1, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported on Thursday citing an official statement.

In the statement, government spokesman Tareq Al Mezram said that only those expatriates, who have been fully vaccinated with coronavirus vaccines approved in Kuwait, will be allowed to enter the country.

Kuwait has so far approved Pfizer-BioNTech, Oxford-AstraZeneca, Moderna vaccine and a single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccines.

Non-Kuwaitis coming to the country are also required to provide a negative COVID test at least 72 hours before arrival before being subject to a seven-day home quarantine that would finish when they test negative for COVID-19, the spokesman added.

With regard to Kuwaiti citizens, the spokesman said that only those who are fully vaccinated will be able to leave the country from Aug. 1.

Children younger than the eligible age as well as people having medical conditions and pregnant are exempt from the move but they need to provide a medical certificate approved by the health ministry.

Meanwhile, authorities have also decided to allow all those who are fully vaccinated to enter restaurants, cafes, gyms, salons and malls that are 6,000 meters and larger.

The move, which will come into force on June 27, is part of the government’s efforts to contain the spread of the Delta coronavirus variant in the country.
