RIYADH — Saudi air defenses intercepted two explosive-laden drones launched by the Iran-backed Houthis that was heading towards Khamis Mushait, the Arab Coalition said on Saturday afternoon.

Just hours before, the Arab Coalition had announced that it intercepted seven explosive-laden drones launched by the Iran-backed militia towards the southern region of Saudi Arabia.

The coalition successfully intercepted the seven drones in Yemeni airspace and the attempt to attack the Kingdom was thwarted, according to a statement.

The Houthis’ deliberate and hostile attempts to attack Saudi Arabia constitute as a war crime, the coalition said.

The coalition added that it would be taking the necessary operational measures to protect civilians and civilian objects from any hostile attacks.

The attempted attack came less than 24 hours after Saudi Arabia’s air defenses intercepted a drone launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia towards Khamis Mushait.

Meanwhile, the kingdom of Bahrain, meanwhile, has strongly denounced the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia's launch of a booby-trapped drone towards the city of Khamis Mushait in Saudi Arabia, as repetitive deliberate targeting of the security and safety of citizens and residents.

In a statement, Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended the efficiency and vigilance of the coalition forces in Yemen, which managed to intercept and destroy the aircraft, affirming that the Kingdom of Bahrain stands shoulder to shoulder with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against all threats to its security, stability and territorial integrity.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called on the international community to condemn these heinous terrorist attacks that pose a grave threat to the safety and security of innocent civilians.

Alos in Jeddah, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen expressed his strong condemnation of the Houthi terrorist militia attempt to target civilians in Khamis Mushait city in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, using a booby-trapped drone which was intercepted and destroyed by the Saudi air defenses.

In a statement today, Dr. Al-Othaimeen voiced the OIC's condemnation of the Houthi militia's terrorist aggression, reiterating the organization's solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all the steps it takes to protect its security and stability. — SPA
