Projects involving suspected cases of collusion exceed SR1 billion

RIYADH — The General Authority for Competition Governor Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Zoom said that the projects that involved cases of suspected collusion amounted to more than SR1billion.

The estimate is based on investigations carried out in various regions of the Kingdom, he added.

Al-Zoom said in a statement that the number of establishments that are found to have colluded in their bids and offers during the current year reached 86, while compared to 15 in 2019.

The authority said in an earlier statement that it was carrying out investigations, research, collection of evidence, and investigations with a number of establishments, based on communications received by the authority from several monitoring authorities, as well as complaints from individuals and companies.

The authority said that it is working to hold workshops and awareness activities for procurement and contract departments in the government and private sectors.

These include verification methods to detect cases of collusion in bids, in addition to everything that intersects between the Government Tenders and Procurement Law and the Competition Law.
