ROME — Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan held a number of bilateral meetings here on Monday on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh (the so-called IS).

The Saudi foreign minister held talks with French, Dutch and Libyan counterparts as well as the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir O. Pedersen.

In his meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, Prince Faisal discussed aspects of Saudi-French relations and ways of enhancing them in various fields to serve the interests of the two countries.

They exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest.

Prince Faisal reviewed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them with the Foreign Minister of the Netherlands Sigrid Kaag.

During the meeting, they discussed aspects of Saudi-Dutch relations and ways of enhancing them in various fields to serve the interests of the two friendly countries, in addition to exchanging views on regional and international issues of common interest.

Prince Faisal and his Libyan counterpart Najla Mangoush discussed bilateral relations and explored ways to strengthen them in various fields to serve common interests.

The two sides also discussed the importance of supporting all means and international efforts to lay the foundations for security and stability in Libya and move forward toward further development and prosperity, in addition to exchanging views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Meanwhile, the Saudi foreign minister and UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir O. Pedersen discussed the latest developments in the Syrian crisis and the political efforts being toward resolving it.

They called for strengthening joint coordination between Saudi Arabia and the United Nations to lay the foundations for security and stability in the region and the world.
