COVID-19 active cases rise again in KSA as new infections outpace recoveries

RIYADH — New COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia continued to remain above the 1,200-mark on Wednesday, with 1,226 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, 14 more people died due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 504,960 and the virus-related fatalities to 8,020.

The ministry also said that a total of 1,128 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 484,883.

The Riyadh region reported the highest number of new cases with 334, followed by the Makkah region with 260, the Eastern region with 158, and the Asir region with 140 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just one of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,929 active cases and 1,430 of them were in critical condition.
