DUSHANBE — Medical supplies sent by Saudi Arabia worth $500,000 arrived in Tajikistan on Monday to help the central Asian country combat the coronavirus pandemic.

The medical aid dispatched by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) at the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman includes face masks, gloves, and medical protective gears.

Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Tajikistan Walid Al-Rushaidan handed over the supplies to the Tajik government in the presence of the country's Deputy Minister of Health and Social Welfare Shodikhon Jamshed and several officials at the embassy's headquarters in Dushanbe.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Al-Rushaidan pointed out that the generous aid reflects Saudi Arabia's keenness to help friendly countries confront COVID-19 through constant cooperation and coordination between health authorities of the two countries.

The Tajik minister valued the assistance provided by the Kingdom through KSrelief, praising the historic relations that unite the two countries.

He added that Saudi Arabia is playing a leading role in providing humanitarian and relief assistance to various parts of the world, drawing global praise.

Saudi Arabia has so far provided several medical and preventive equipment to various countries across the world to support international efforts to combat the COVID-19 and reduce its risks.
