Saudi Arabia’s new COVID-19 cases, recoveries stay steady as deaths drop

RIYADH Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health on Friday recorded 1,247 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours.

According to the ministry, 11 more people died due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 515,693 and the virus-related fatalities to 8,141.

The ministry also said that a total of 1,160 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 496,810.

The Riyadh region reported the highest number of new cases with 263, followed by the Eastern region with 211, the Makkah region with 209 and the Asir region with 157 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just one of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,742 active cases and 1,383 of them were in critical condition.
