New COVID-19 cases drop slightly in KSA as total recoveries near 500,000

RIYADH Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health on Sunday recorded 1,194 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours.

According to the ministry, 12 more people died due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 518,143 and the virus-related fatalities to 8,167.

The ministry also said that a total of 1,164 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 499,129.

The Riyadh region reported the highest number of new cases with 293, followed by the Eastern region with 226, the Makkah region with 183 and the Asir region with 122 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just one of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,847 active cases and 1,408 of them were in critical condition
