RIYADH — The Health Sciences Research Center at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University has realized several achievements during 2021, including launching a pack of research projects and programs, at the top of which are a lab for coronavirus (COVID-19) tests, establishing an e-microscope unit, activating the microbiology unit, in addition to launching the Nourah program initiative for rehabilitation for the Saudi market.

The center has also provided services that aimed at enhancing efforts in fighting the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic at the level of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through receiving necessary licenses from the Public Health Authority and the Ministry of Health, where the Communicable Disease Unit succeeded in providing medical tests according to the highest standards, such as: real rime polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), FastTrack PCR and antigen testing.

The achievements of the research administration came through activating the microbiology unit and exerting efforts to attract projects of researchers in various colleges to work in the unit. The planning and development unit at the center has also registered record numbers for workshops on research training during the pandemic through training 2,134 researchers from outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Also, the first half of the year witnessed the partial operation of the e-microscope unit that contains the latest version of the e-microscope that offers high-quality microscopic tests and a scanning electron microscope that serves the clinical and research fields alike. — SPA
