RIYADH — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), the charity arm of Saudi Arabia, sent on Thursday the first batch of medical supplies to Malaysia to help the Southeast Asian country combat the coronavirus pandemic.

The medical aid is being delivered in the implementation of directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman following the request made by Malaysian Foreign Minister Hishammuddin Hussein during his call with the Crown Prince.

On Thursday morning, two aircraft took off from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh heading for Kuala Lumpur International Airport, carrying essential medical supplies and equipment, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

With regard to the provision of one million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, it will be done in coordination with the office of the Tunisian foreign minister by securing a contract with one of the approved international vaccine makers to supply the required quantities directly to Malaysia, the SPA added.

This aid is an affirmation of deep-rooted relations between the two countries and Saudi Arabia's humanitarian roles toward the most affected countries by COVID-19.
