BURAIDAH — Lt. Col. Badr Al-Suhaibani, spokesman of Al-Qassim region police, said that the security forces arrested a Pakistani national for harassing a woman while she was inside her vehicle.
He said security authorities were able to identify the person who appeared in a video clip being circulated on the social media in which he was seen harassing a woman while she was inside her vehicle on a public street in Buraidah, with acts and behaviors that are indecent to modesty, and which are incompatible with Islamic values and public morals.
The man in his 40s was arrested, and he was referred to the branch of the Public Prosecution after taking initial legal measures against him,
The Monitoring Center at the Public Prosecution documented the harassment video clip in which the man was accused of committing sexual acts and immoral signs in a public place.
The Public Prosecution said that the Public Prosecutor issued an arrest warrant for the accused, based on Articles 15 and 17 of the Criminal Procedures Code, and that legal measures were taken against him.
“These sinful behaviors are considered as major crimes that require punishment, especially because of its occurrence in a public place, and their penalties reach up to five years imprisonment and a fine of SR300,000,” the Public Prosecution said.
The Public Prosecution also called upon everyone who received information about cases of harassment to immediately inform the competent authorities to take legal measures in line with the provisions of the Anti-Harassment Law.
