Kingdom’s airports advance on world's 100 top airport list

RIYADH — The Kingdom's international airports continued for the second year in a row to advance on the world's 100 top airport list, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Skytrax global organization assessment, which is concerned with evaluating airlines and airports, in which more than 500 airports around the world are included.

According to the results of the 2021 evaluation, King Abdulaziz International Airport topped the Saudi international airports, ranking 50th globally, King Khalid International Airport advanced 36 ranks to 58th place, and Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Airport to 68th place, advancing 16 places, while King Fahd International Airport ranked 87th advancing from the 91st globally in the previous evaluation.

Regionally, King Abdulaziz International Airport ranked third, King Khalid International Airport ranked fifth, and King Fahd International Airport ranked ninth, while Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport, which is the first airport in the Kingdom that was privatized, and for the second year got the first place award as the best regional airport and the sixth in the Middle East, respectively.

These results reflect the level of commitment of airport employees who are keen to offer the best experience for passengers, emphasizing the level of leadership and excellence, and moving forward in the continuous development process to achieve the objectives of the civil aviation sector strategy.

This strategy emanates from the national strategy for transport and logistics and seeks to achieve advanced global recognition, in addition to enhancing the efforts of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) which aims to raise the quality of services provided to passengers and develop the travel experience at the Kingdom’s airports. — SPA
