Sports minister congratulates leadership on Hamdi's Olympic achievement

RIYADH — Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal, minister of sports and president of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee (SAOC), extended his congratulations and blessings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy prime minister and minister of defense, on the occasion of the achievement made by the hero Tarek Hamdi.

Hamdi, who represented Saudi Arabia in karate, won silver medal in the weight category of over 75 kilograms in the sport at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 on Saturday.

In a press statement on this occasion, the minister of sports said: "I congratulate our wise leadership and the Saudi people for the great achievement of our hero, Tarek Hamdi, by winning the silver medal in karate at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, after strong competition and difficult confrontations, with the world's most prominent stars in this game."

He added: "This achievement, which we are all happy with as Saudis, would not have been achieved without the support we receive in the sports sector, from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and the follow-up and attention of the Crown Prince and to provide all possible ways to achieve the accomplishments, and to honor the country in various international and continental forums." — SPA
