Professional permits mandatory for workers in gold sales outlets

RIYADH —
Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Eng. Ahmed Al-Rajhi has issued an order, making it mandatory for workers in sales outlets of gold and jewelry to obtain professional work permits.

The ministry has granted a six-month grace period for the implementation of the decision from the date of its publication on the ministry’s website.


The minister has set a number of terms and conditions related to the permit for those working in this sector, which include the following:

The worker must be a Saudi national, and he or she shall have the necessary professional skills to work in this activity in accordance with the controls specified in the forms announced on the ministry’s website, and the worker’s career record should be free from any security issues.

The ministry emphasized that the license shall be valid for one year and that can be renewed.


The ministry’s decision aims to improve the work environment in the gold and jewelry sector and raise the efficiency and stability of workers in this sector.

The move is part of a series of ministerial decisions taken by the ministry as part of its efforts to regulate the labor market. All these decisions aime to develop the market, improve its environment, and provide more job opportunities for male and female citizens.
