RIYADH — The Ministry of Culture, represented by the Theater and Performing Arts Authority, launched an advanced international workshop in theatrical performance and direction.

The workshop was launched on Monday (Aug, 23) and was hosted by American artist Victor Burke and Spanish creator Aiden Kendon at the King Abdulaziz Public Library in Riyadh.

The Ministry of Culture plans provide specialized initiatives to support professional development in the theater sector and discover Saudi talents in theater and directing arts.

It plans to do that through raising awareness, developing skills for practitioners in the theatrical field and those interested in the performing arts, and the implementation of short and advanced training programs.

Fifty male and female trainees were selected from among more than 150 applicants, who had previous experience in performing and acting and had a good command of the English language.

This workshop comes following the great success achieved by the first international training program in acting and theater directing in Jeddah.

The workshop plans to introduce promising young talents on the arts of theatrical acting and performance, while introducing them to various modern theater schools.

The workshop, as well as, will train them in movements and voices, while also teaching them ways of entering and leaving the stage with balanced variations between sounds, signs and theatrical expressions.

This workshop will lead to creating a suitable atmosphere for presenting classical and experimental Saudi theatrical works leading to a comprehensive theatrical renaissance within the cultural strategy set by the Ministry of Culture to develop arts, literature and knowledge.
