RIYADH — The Maldivian Minister of State for Islamic Affairs Elias Jamal praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s efforts in serving Islam and Muslims across the globe, citing Muslim and non-Muslim countries.

The minister, who also chairs the National Center for the Holy Qur’an in The Maldives, made his statement while receiving the Kingdom's delegation headed by the Undersecretary of Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Sheikh Awad Bin Sabti Alanzi.

Sheikh Alanzi is participating in official meetings with Maldivian government to discuss the arrangements for the inauguration of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Mosque.

The Maldivian minister said the Kingdom carries a global message in the service of all humanity and the dissemination of security and peace, citing Saudi Arabia’s initiative to build this mosque, which represents a lofty Islamic beacon and a state-of-the-art architectural masterpiece in The Maldives.

The six-floor King Salman Mosque can accommodate more than 10,000 worshipers at a time, and includes multi-purpose halls, international library, conference hall, center for serving the Qur’an and Sunnah, and classrooms with an area of 41,500 sq.ft. — SPA
