The inauguration of a new era of education

Hamoud Abu Taleb

After a long and difficult period, public education schools and universities opened their doors on Sunday, commencing a new and completely different academic year, which can be described without exaggeration as the inauguration of a new educational era in the Kingdom.

This day should be replete with our calls to the Ministry of Education to deliver an explicit message that its efforts have been crowned with success in overcoming the huge challenges with confidence, determination and decisiveness.

The ministry’s success is the success of our country and its generations, as well as the realization of our dreams and our legitimate hopes to be in the right position in this world, which is witnessing fierce competition that displaces the latecomers and those who are reluctant to invest time, intellect, and available capabilities.

This year, the Ministry of Education welcomes six million students in public education and about 1.3 million students in university education, and that is in the wake of an unprecedented coronavirus pandemic situation, which warranted precise and minute preparations and facilities to maintain the safety of male and female students.

You can imagine the mammoth efforts and elaborate preparations that have been made under psychological pressure to start the new academic year by ensuring utmost safety and security.

Moreover, the ministry has made fundamental changes in the curricula, pedagogy, technology and the revision of ideas deposited in the educational environment that had serious negative effects. There was also the restructuring and organization of the ministry to achieve better productivity in line with its ambitions and aspirations.

Undoubtedly, there are many obstacles in the way of implementation of all these vital changes, requiring for the community to be a positive and active partner to start a new educational era for a country that aspires to be the most prosperous.
