SFD inaugurates traffic intersection project in Amman as grant

The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) inaugurated Monday in the Jordanian capital, Amman, the traffic intersections project in the Marj Al-Hamam area, Amman-Dead Sea Road, as a grant provided by the government of Saudi Arabia, through SFD, at a total cost of $19 million.

AMMAN — The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) inaugurated Monday in the Jordanian capital, Amman, the traffic intersections project in the Marj Al-Hamam area, Amman-Dead Sea Road, as a grant provided by the government of Saudi Arabia, through SFD, at a total cost of $19 million.

This grant was a contribution to raise the level of cooperation between the two countries and the development of transport sector services in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Jordanian Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahya Al-Kasabi, the Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nasser Al-Shraideh, Saudi Ambassador to Jordan Nayef Bin Bandar Al-Sudairy, and the SFD's Director-General of Operations in the Middle East and North Africa Eng. Bandar Bin Abdullah Al-Obaid attended the opening ceremony.

Al-Kasabi explained that the opening of the project has a significant impact on improving road services and infrastructure in Jordan.

Ambassador Al-Sudairy too pointed out that Saudi Arabia, through the Saudi Fund for Development, has so far provided nearly $2 billion through grants and loans to many development projects in Jordan, which is one of the first countries to benefit from the Fund during half a century of support for projects in several key and vital sectors. — SPA
