ABU DHABI -- The UAE has expressed its condemnation of the attempts of the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia to carry out an attack through two booby-trapped boats in the Red Sea port of Salif, which were intercepted by the Coalition forces.

The Arab Coalition Supporting Legitimacy in Yemen confirmed on Monday it had destroyed two booby-trapped boats of the Houthi militia in Salif and thwarted an imminent attack.

The coalition condemned continued Houthi threats to navigation in the Bab Al-Mandab Strait and the southern Red Sea.

It also criticized the Houthi militia's continued violation of the Stockholm Agreement by launching hostile operations from Hodeidah.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said, in a statement on Monday night, that the continuation of these terrorist attacks reflects its blatant defiance of the international community and its disregard for all international laws and norms.

The ministry stressed that the UAE considers this attack as new evidence of the Houthi terrorist militia's efforts to undermine security and stability in the region, reiterating its country's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia over these terrorist attacks, and standing with it against every threat to its security, and the security of maritime and global trade.

Recent attempted attacks by the Houthis have drawn condemnation from several Arab and Western countries, who have stressed their support for Saudi Arabia and its security.

On Monday, Bahrain condemned the attempted attack on Salif port, saying the hostile action was a risk to maritime navigation and threatened to destabilize security and stability in the region.

Stressing the need for international efforts to also condemn the attempted attack and to put an end to the Houthi militia's violations, the Bahraini Foreign Ministry affirmed that the terrorist act reflects the Houthis' adamant intent to threaten navigation and undermine regional stability and security.

It hailed the efficiency and vigilance of the Coalition Forces Supporting Legitimacy in Yemen, which were able to intercept and destroy the boats.

It called upon the international community to shoulder its responsibility in condemning these acts, stressing the need for concerted international efforts to deter these terrorist militias and put an end to their violations. -- SG/SPA
