Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) took 7,344 administrative decisions involving penal actions against violators of residency and labor regulations during the last Hijri month of Muharram.

The decisions were taken by the administrative committees under the Jawazat branch offices in various regions of the Kingdom against citizens and residents for violating the regulations related to the residency permit (iqama), work and border security. The penalties range from imprisonment and fine to deportation.

The Jawazat affirmed that citizens or residents, including owners of establishments, should not provide transportation, employment or shelter to any violators of the residency, work and border security regulations. It urged them not to give illegal residents cover-up or provide them with any form of assistance in finding jobs, housing or transportation.

The Jawazat called on all citizens and residents to cooperate with it by giving information about violators of the residency, work and border security regulations through contacting the phone number 911 in the regions of Makkah and Riyadh, and 999 in all other regions of the Kingdom.
