New COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia jump above 50-mark

RIYADH — New COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia jumped above the 50-mark for the first time after staying below the half century level for two straight days on Monday, with 59 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, 5 more people died due to complications caused by the virus over the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 546,985 and the virus-related fatalities to 8,704.

According to the ministry, a total of 78 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 536,028.

Al Baha reported the highest number of new cases followed by Riyadh. The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom.

According to the ministry, among the active cases and 244 of them were in critical condition.
