NEW YORK —
Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan has said Saudi Arabia supports international efforts to ensure that Iran does not possess nuclear weapons.

Prince Faisal made his remarks on Tuesday during a high-level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on the international day for the total elimination of nuclear weapons.

The foreign minister called on the international community to assume its responsibilities toward Iran’s continuous breaches and violations of international agreements and treaties related to its nuclear agreement.

“The Kingdom pays great attention to treaties calling for the abolition of nuclear weapons,” he said.

Prince Faisal added that the Kingdom's position is based on the principle of the right of states to use nuclear energy peacefully.
