AL-QURAYYAT — Two Pakistanis were arrested in the Qurayyat governorate in the northern Al-Jouf region for their involvement in posting a misleading video of heavy gunfire after the video became instant hit in the social media.

Col. Yazeed Al-Noumas, spokesman of Al-Jouf police, said in a statement on the Twitter account that the Pakistanis were behind the video in which the sound of heavy gunfire could be heard in front of a commercial store.

It was found following investigations that the sound effects were added to the video clip to mislead the social media audience.

“The Pakistani nationals, in their 30s, were arrested and the necessary legal measures were taken against them before referring them to the branch of the Public Prosecution,” the spokesman said.

He added that the motive behind posting the video was to gain admiration and views from the social media users.
