October 08, 2021

Saudi Gazette report

JEDDAH — King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), in cooperation with King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), announced their first trial on launching the sea taxi project.

The sea taxi project will help and contribute to linking KAUST to KAEC, as it will facilitate the transportation process.

The first trial of the sea taxi took place in Jeddah. It is considered the first experiment that connects the university and the city with a distance by about 7.5 kilometers.

It is noteworthy that in Aug. 4, 2021, Jazan Governor Prince Muhammad Bin Nasser Bin Abdulaziz inaugurated the sea ambulance service in the Farasan Island Governorate.

The sea ambulance has three beds, including an ICU bed that can be increased to five beds and a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) device.

It also has a stretcher that has the ability to absorb shocks resulting from waves and adapts to movement on the sea, a suction device, and all medicines needed for emergencies.

The sea ambulance can also transfer emergency cases from Farasan Island to Jazan Port within 45 minutes.
