RIYADH — Iraqi Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dr. Abdul Sattar Al-Janabi expressed Iraq’s pride in participating as a guest of honor in the 2021 Riyadh International Book Fair, describing this gesture as an honor from Saudi Arabia to Iraq.

In remarks to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), he said that Iraq participated in the 2021 Riyadh International Book Fair at an invitation from the Minister of Culture Prince Badr Bin Abdullah Bin Farhan, noting that several officials and intellectuals from both countries, led by the Minister of Culture, have visited the Iraqi pavilion.

He cited that a number of cultural events were held on the sidelines of the fair, including symposiums and workshops by Iraqi intellectuals on Iraqi poets, such as Al-Jawahiri and Al-Sayyab.

He also pointed to shows on Iraqi singing that were attended by several Arab intellectuals, stressing that the presence of Saudi intellectuals to the Iraqi pavilion is distinguished, where all copies that were brought to the fair in thousands have been sold out.

The Iraqi Ambassador said that the symposiums and workshops focused on the influence of culture on political solidarity, which both countries’ leaderships seek to achieve in a bid to resume the solid and deep-rooted ties between the two countries. — SPA
