RIYADH — Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan is heading the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation participating in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG), being held in Washington.
The Saudi delegation includes Governor of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) Dr. Fahad Al-Mubarak and a number of officials from the Ministry of Finance, Saudi Central Bank and the Saudi Fund for Development.
During the week, Minister Al-Jadaan will attend the meetings of both the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) of the IMF and the Development Committee (DC) of the WBG.
The IMFC will discuss the Managing Director's Global Policy Agenda. It will also discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, aid effectiveness, seize the opportunity of digitalization, and ensure inclusive development and growth.
The Development Committee will discuss the WBG's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the efforts to ensure fair and equitable access to vaccination, and ways to support the global economic recovery, especially for low-income countries. It will also discuss ways for pandemic prevention, preparedness and response, with the aim of building resilience against future pandemics.
On the sidelines of the meetings, the Minister of Finance will attend the G20 finance ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting on Wednesday under the Italian Presidency.
The meeting will foster in-depth discussions on key topics related to the outlook of the global economy, including the support for the most vulnerable countries and policies to support the green transition in addition to issues related to international taxation and financial sector. — SPA
