Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — The Ministry of Education has directed that the score of international simulating tests and achievement tests will be calculated within the scores of the activity tasks for each subject while evaluating students’ performance during the current academic year.

This will be equivalent to 10 percent of the grades of the total activities of the year.

The ministry said that this would be based in line with the technical guide for applying the international simulated tests and achievement tests for the current academic year.

The student’s percentage in the international simulating tests and achievement tests is calculated within the activity tasks for the student in the target subjects with no less than 10 percent of the grades of the yearly activities.

Six grades will be added to the grades of the activity tasks, which include preparing assignments, research, projects and reports.

Accordingly, the grades of academic performance are calculated as follows: from 90 percent to 100 percent six grades; from 80 percent to 89 percent five grades; from 70 percent to 79 percent four grades.

And from 60 percent to 69 percent three and a half grades; from 50 percent to 59 percent three grades; from 40 percent to 49 percent two and a half grades; from 30 percent to 39 percent two grades; and less than 30 percent one grade.

The grades in the Arabic language will be added to the fourth grade of primary school students. The grades in the Arabic language, mathematics and science subjects will be added to the intermediate level.

The grades in the Arabic language subject for the secondary level will be added in the literary and humanities branches; the grades in the Arabic language, mathematics and natural sciences subjects in the secondary level will be added in the scientific level.

The tracks system in the first year of the secondary phase is added to the Arabic language, mathematics and natural sciences subjects, provided that the due grades are divided equally between the courses registered by the student.

The ministry stressed the need to send grades weekly to education departments with a condition that the teacher shall monitor the highest score obtained by the student in all simulated tests until the time of monitoring.

The test is available to the student for a period of 24 hours, with the teacher entitled to distribute the six grades according to what he sees in the range of grades for the activity tasks. The simulated test score will be added to the two semester periods.
