Citizen, Indian resident arrested for receiving drug package

RIYADH — A Saudi citizen and Indian resident in Riyadh were recently arrested for having received a postal parcel containing (205,429) amphetamine tablets, a flagrant violation of anti-drug smuggling, peddling and use laws and regulations, it was reported Sunday.

The official spokesman for the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), Maj. Mohammad Al-Nujaidi, stated that the proactive security follow-up of the criminal network's activities in apprehending the culprits and taking preliminary legal measures against them.

The attempted smuggling targets to tamper with the security of Saudi Arabia and its youths, by using and promoting drugs. The smugglers fell into the drug net, which was set up in cooperation with the counterpart agency in Bahrain, and in coordination with the Kingdom’s Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority. — SPA
