RIYADH — The CEO of the General Commission for Audiovisual Media (GCAM), Esraa Assery, met with Vice President of EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) regional distribution for Warner Bros Toby Tennant, one of the largest international Hollywood studios, and Regional Head of Majid Al Futtaim Entertainment in the Middle East Mohammed Al-Hashemi.

The meeting discussed areas of cooperation to develop the Saudi cinema sector, the field of film distribution, and the development of national competencies in the sector in light of the tremendous growth it has witnessed since its launch.

This is in addition to the great demand from film distributors to present films, as more than 1,000 cinema films have been released in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the past three years.

Members in the meeting stressed that the cinema sector in the Kingdom would witness a qualitative renaissance that attracts local and international investors, especially with the measures provided by the commission that contribute to facilitating and accelerating the licensing and classification process.

It is noteworthy that the number of cinemas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reached 45, with 418 screens and 41,934 seats. — SPA
