Cameroon ambassador briefed on IMCTC’s counterterrorism efforts

RIYADH — Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counter-terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi has received at IMCTC headquarters in Riyadh the Ambassador of the Republic of Cameroon to Saudi Arabia, Iya Tidjani, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the ambassador received a detailed briefing on IMCTC’s counterterrorism efforts across its four domains of action: “Ideology, Communications, Counter terrorist financing, and Military” and its role in coordinating member countries’ counterterrorism efforts.

The Ambassador of Cameroon praised the great efforts being exerted by IMCTC to combat terrorism, with regard to combating and eliminating the scourge of terrorism, in partnership with international organizations and alliances concerned with combating terrorism and violent extremist ideology. He also commended the great and pioneering role being played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting this Coalition and everything that would eliminate terrorism.

For his part, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi said that the IMCTC calls on the Republic of Cameroon to join the Coalition as a member state, given its political, economic and military status in the Central West African region as well as its great experience in the various fields of combating terrorism. — SPA
