Speaker of Arab Parliament praises outcome of Gulf summit

CAIRO — Speaker of the Arab Parliament Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asoumi praised the outcomes of the 42nd session of the GCC Supreme Council, chaired by Saudi Arabia, in the presence of leaders and heads of delegations of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for the Arab States.

He also commended the sincere efforts exerted by the Kingdom under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, to make this summit a success.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, he stressed that the Gulf summit came in light of challenges and exceptional circumstances the region is going through, which requires more solidarity and cohesion, coordinating visions and positions towards pivotal issues of common interest, and unifying Gulf and Arab efforts in addressing external challenges and threats. He noted that the outcomes of this summit serve the interest of achieving the aspirations of the peoples of the Gulf region, strengthening cooperation, and enhancing joint efforts to confront the challenges the region is facing.

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament emphasized that the summit embodied the great role and pioneering initiatives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince, in achieving higher interests and maintaining the security of the Arab Gulf states as well as their pioneering and distinguished role in serving the Arab nation issues. — SPA
