MADINAH — The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), in collaboration with the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation, will organize on Jan. 29, 2022, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Endurance Cup 2022. Richard Mille AlUla Desert Polo is organised in collaboration with Saudi Polo Federation on Feb. 11-12, 2022.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Endurance Cup 2022 will see over 200 riders compete in what is considered one of the most significant endurance races in the world.
It is the third year that the tournament is being held and on offer are prizes worth SR15 million ($4.2 million), within the activities of Winter at Tantora, Dec. 21 to March 30.
The two stars competition, recognized by the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI), covers a distance of 120 km, which participants complete by riding four loops.
The course takes on average eight hours to finish and in that time some of the best riders in the world will experience a variety of breath-taking landscapes for which the natural and historic AlUla region is so well known. Both horse and rider need to be in peak condition, as the race is physically and mentally demanding.
Visitors to Winter at Tantora will also be able to experience the only major polo tournament staged in the desert. The event is organized by the Royal Commission for AlUla in partnership with the Saudi Polo Federation.
