Civil Defense cautions to be vigil as thunderstorms to hit some regions

RIYADH - The General Directorate of Civil Defense called on everyone in the Kingdom to be cautious and keep vigilant in the wake of the possibility of thunderstorms continue experiencing in some regions of the Kingdom while snowfall hitting the northern Tabuk region.

The warning came amid the forecast of the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) that thunderstorms will experience in some regions of the Kingdom from Friday until Monday. According to the NCM report, the regions of Riyadh, Makkah, Madinah, Eastern Province, Al-Baha, Asir, Jazan, Al-Qassim, Tabuk, Al-Jouf and Hail will receive moderate to heavy rains, and snowfall is expected on the highlands of the Tabuk region. Mercury dropped to below minus degree Celsius in Al-Qurayyat, Turaif and some other northern regions.

Lt. Col. Muhammad Al Hammadi, spokesman of the Civil Defense, called on everyone to be vigilant and wary of potential dangers in such climatic conditions. He urged the public to stay away from water pools caused by torrential rain as well as from valleys and flood passages and to abide by the instructions issued by the Civil Defense through various media outlets in order to preserve their safety.
