JEDDAH — Prince Khalid Bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, president of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF), confirmed that the third edition of the Saudi Arabia Dakar Rally 2022 witnessed a large participation in terms of the number of participants.
It reached 1,000 from 70 international countries, which is the largest in the history of the rally and represented more than three times participants in the last two editions of the Saudi Arabia Dakar Rally.
He said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the percentage of accidents in this year's Saudi Arabia Dakar Rally 2022 was few, and no deaths or serious injuries were recorded among the participants, especially in the motorcycle category, who are more at risk of accidents and injuries.
He further said, "The most distinctive feature of the Saudi Arabia Dakar Rally 2022 is the strong presence of Arab drivers, especially of the Arabian Gulf, where the Qatari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah won first place, while the Saudi driver Yazeed Al-Rajhi won third place in the cars category, and this represents pride and achievement for all of us in Arab Gulf States." — SPA
