UNICEF lauds Saudi Arabia’s decision to resume in-class education

RIYADH — UNICEF Gulf Deputy Representative Jumana Haj Ahmad lauded Saudi Arabia’s decision to resume in-class education for the kindergarten and elementary stages.

She stressed that it is an important step for children, especially that schools should be the last to close and the first to reopen during the coronavirus pandemic.

The remarks were made during a visit to the Satellite Broadcasting School (SBS), where the delegates were received by the Ministry of Education Undersecretary for Public Education Dr. Mohammed Al-Migbel. Ministry officials briefed Haj Ahmad on the school and broadcasting studios, and the mechanism of shooting and recording lessons, in addition to the operations of educational supervision for their contents. Al-Migbel also delivered a presentation on the Madrasati and Rawdati platforms.

Haj Ahmad stressed that the experience of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in providing online education through the Madrasati and Rawdati platforms and IEN Channels is considered a leading experience worldwide and was characterized by follow up, assessment and constant development. She noted that the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom has offered a comprehensive image that exceeded learning to enhancing protection programs against abuse, and psychological and social growth for the children. — SPA
