RIYADH — The Global Game Jam, the largest game development event in the world, is launching for the first time in seven cities during January 27-29, in cooperation with the Digital Games Association (DGA), which is the first association established in the Kingdom to support developers of animation, digital games and e-sports.

The event aims to gather those interested in developing games together to design rapid prototyping of games by creating inspiring new ideas that contribute to the growth of the gaming industry in Saudi Arabia.

Issam Al-Shahwan, a founding member of DGA and the official spokesperson, explained the importance of the workshops in forming a community in which game lovers share interests and exchange experiences.

Regarding the participation mechanism, Al-Shahwan stated that the program is free, and it is possible to participate by registering through the account of the Digital Games Association. The current program targets young people above 18 years of age, he said, adding that within 6 months, under-18s will have their own program for participation. — SG
