RIYADH - Thailand Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Prayut Chan-o-cha will pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on January 25-26, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced on Sunday.

The Thai Prime Minister's visit to the Kingdom comes in response to the invitation of the Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman, and Saudi Arabia's keenness to strengthen joint relations and build bridges of communication with all countries around the world.

The visit has also comes after a consultations resulted in a convergence of views on various issues of common concern, and to ensure the continuation of consultation, coordination and exchange of views on these issues.

The two-day visit will mark a new milestone in Saudi-Thai relations, which were established in 1957, as both countries have agreed to move forward in their bilateral relationship.

Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai visited Saudi Arabia in January 2020, marking the first visit by a Thai foreign minister in 30 years. The aim was to normalise the long stalled relationship.
