RIYADH — The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has seized a food warehouse in Riyadh that was modifying the country of origin on the outer packaging of products through repackaging.

SFDA pointed out that through monitoring and investigation tasks of violating food warehouses, it found a food warehouse that practices repackaging activity inside the warehouse for dry food products, and was modifying the country of origin.

It indicated that it seized 2,139 kg of various food products in the warehouse, and imposed a penalty against the violating establishment, in accordance with the food system and its executive regulation.

SFDA carries out periodic control and inspection tours of the facilities under its supervision in cooperation with the relevant authorities, in order to verify their compliance with their regulations, requirements of technical regulations, and approved food specifications.

It also takes legal measures against violating establishments, in order to ensure the safety of products subject to its control.

SFDA called on consumers to report violations of the establishments under its supervision, by calling the unified number (19999), or through its “Tammini” application available on the IOS and Android. — SPA
