RIYADH — Djibouti announced its support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s bid to host Expo 2030 in Riyadh, following an earlier statement of support from Mauritania, which affirmed full backing for the Kingdom's bid to host the 2030 event.
The announcement was made in an official letter received by Saudi embassy in Djibouti from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Djibouti.
In a statement, Saudi Ambassador to Djibouti Faisal Al-Qabbani expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Djibouti for its support that reflects the deep brotherly relations between the two countries.
For his part, Djibouti Ambassador Dya-Eddine Said Bamakhrama said: “Based on the close fraternal ties between the leaderships and peoples of Djibouti and Saudi Arabia and confidence in the huge potential of Saudi Arabia and its status regionally and internationally at the geo-political and economic levels, Djibouti supports Saudi Arabia’s bid to host Expo 2030.
“This hosting of the global event will coincide with the year of realizing the Saudi Vision 2030 to its national and international targets in development and entrepreneurship.”
He also stressed that Djibouti will contribute to mobilizing support necessary to render this international event success through organizing it in Riyadh.
Meanwhile, in a statement in Nouakchott, the Mauritanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that in light of the special relations and close cooperation Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabia's leading role at the Arab and Islamic levels, it affirms its full support for the Saudi bid.
Mauritania also stated that it encourages other countries to support Saudi Arabia's bid. — SPA
