Saudi Arabia hosts second technical meeting of Regional Safety Oversight Organization in MENA

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia hosted Sunday the second technical meeting of the Regional Safety Oversight Organization in the Middle East and North Africa, with the participation of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO), officials of aviation authorities in member states, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel here.

The meeting aims to complete the establishment of the organization, which will enhance the safety program of the member states of the organization in the field of aviation safety oversight.

Executive Vice President for Safety and Aviation Standards Capt. Suleiman Bin Saleh Al-Muhaimidi welcomed the participants from the member states of the organization, hoping that the meeting would yield the best experiences and practices in the field of air safety control in civil aviation.

Furthermore, benefit from the expertise and cadres, establish the highest levels of air safety and educate on the latest developments of the regional aviation safety group in the Middle East and North Africa.

He noted that the meeting was an opportunity to network and reach agreement on agenda items, and to discuss common issues, and thanked ICAO for its continuous efforts over the past decade to support the establishment of the Regional Safety Oversight Organization in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA-RSOO).

During the meeting, opinions and proposals were exchanged, and coordination and joint cooperation between the civil aviation authorities and authorities in the organization was strengthened.

It is worth noting that the MENA-RSOO, which is headquartered in Riyadh, aims to promote the safe and effective use and development of civil aviation inside and outside the organization's member states. Further it would develop guidance materials and conduct studies, training and consultations. — SG
