Muslim Word League, Thailand discuss enhancing cooperation

BANGKOK — Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa and an accompanying delegation visited the Kingdom of Thailand upon an official invitation from the Thai government.

Dr. Al-Issa met with Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha who welcomed the MWL’s delegates, highlighting the importance of the distinguished role of MWL around the world and congratulating Dr. Al-Issa for being granted an honorary PhD degree from Fatoni University.

As part of the visit, the secretary-general also met with former Thai prime minister and incumbent Speaker of the House of Representatives Chuan Leekpai at the headquarters of the parliament. In the presence of heads of parliamentary committees and members of the parliament, they held an expanded meeting over several issues of mutual interest and means to expand bilateral cooperation.

Dr. Al-Issa also met with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai and discussed several issues of mutual interest and set frameworks to activate cooperation through initiatives and programs.

Meanwhile, the secretary-general visited the Jim Thompson House Museum in Bangkok, where he was received by Thai Minister of Culture Itthiphol Khunpluem. The visit included a ceremony that reflected images from Thai culture and traditions.

Dr. Al-Issa praised the level of harmony in Thailand, commending his fruitful bilateral meetings with officials and the leadership in Thailand. — SPA
