Saudi Arabia welcomes UN' decision to designate Houthi militia as terrorist group

RIYADH
- Saudi Arabia has welcomed on Tuesday morning, the United Nations Security Council's decision to designate the Houthi militia as a terrorist group.

The Kingdom’s foreign ministry’s statement came after the UN Security Council's issued a resolution on Monday, designating the Houthi militia as a terrorist group and expanded the ban on the delivery of weapons to Yemen to include all Houthi terrorist affiliates. As the arms embargo was previously limited to specific individuals and companies.

The ministry confirmed that it hopes that the UN resolution will contribute to putting an end to the terrorist Houthi militia actions, and its supporters.

The decision will reduce the threat of militias, the ministry confirmed, noting that it will also help to stop supplying this terrorist organization with missiles, drones and weapons.

UN' decision will contribute to stop the Iranian funds through which it finances the terrorist organization's war effort to target civilians and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and spill's Yemen's people blood, in addition to threat the international navigation and neighboring countries.

The foreign ministry has reiterated its confirmation in supporting the efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, and the efforts of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen. Based on the Gulf initiative, in addition to the comprehensive national dialogue outcomes and the relevant Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2216.
