RIYADH — On International Women's Day, the Saudi Center for Opinion Polling (SCOP) highlighted Saudi society’s positive response to a range of reforms related to the empowerment of women. This supports various governmental measures taken over the recent years.
Content manager for the Saudi Center for Opinion Polling Arwa Al-Mohanna underlined this positive impact and shared that the Center annually conducts several opinion surveys dealing with various topics related to social affairs.
She shared the most directly relevant findings made in 2021, where 92% of the people interviewed, agreed and welcomed the decision to allow women to drive, indicating that the community has felt the important and practical benefits of this decision.
In this survey, over 3,000 Saudis were randomly selected, representing 96% of the Kingdom's population with a margin of error of 1.8%.
In another survey, 94% of Saudis confirmed that they believe that employment of Saudi women in 2021 had increased compared to the situation five years ago.
In the same context — through another survey with the same characteristics of the sample size and margin of error — Saudi society strongly welcomed women working in a range of jobs. This was preferred by 84% of the respondents.
In another study conducted during 2021, 62% of Saudis expressed their support for women’s mandates over scholarships and travel. Al-Mohanna emphasized that these results confirmed the support of Saudi society for the above mentioned social development initiatives.
