JEDDAH — The Saher system benefits society as it sets a speed limit and helps smooth flow of traffic, Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh has said.



He said the system does not harm anyone. “It is there to prevent recklessness and it should not be treated as an enemy of the public,” the Grand Mufti said talking to Okaz/Saudi Gazette.



Calling upon all citizens to cooperate and abide by Saher rules, the Grand Mufti also said tricks to deceive the Saher cameras is not permissible. “Drivers should not use tricks to circumvent Saher system by hiding their license plates or using any other method because such thing is not permissible,” he said.



Talking about the Haj, the Grand Mufti said only those who are physically fit and have financial capability to perform the pilgrimage should undertake the journey.



If these two conditions have been met by any Muslim, Haj becomes obligatory. If someone is financially capable but physically weak and frail, he/she could authorize someone to perform Haj on their behalf.



As for those who don’t have enough money or stamina, they are excused from performing it, the Grand Mufti said.
