WASHINGTON — US President Joe Biden will speak on Friday with China's President Xi Jinping, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced Thursday.
"This is part of our ongoing efforts to maintain open lines of communication between the United States and the China," Psaki said in a statement.
She added that the two leaders would discuss "managing the competition between our two countries as well as Russia's war against Ukraine and other issues of mutual concern."
The call comes after National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met in Rome on Monday with top Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi. — Agencies
