RIYADH — The Food Abundance Committee, emanating from the Food Security Committee, held its 10th periodic meeting to discuss food supplies in the Kingdom amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

The meeting was headed by Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli and witnessed the participation of Minister of Commerce Majid Al-Qasabi and deputy minister of commerce Dr. Iman Al-Mutairi.

The committee reviewed the developments in the abundance of basic food commodities in the Kingdom's markets in light of the developments in global food markets over the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

Al-Fadhli and Al-Qasabi valued the committee's efforts, which contributed to the abundance of food supplies and the abundance of food, agricultural and animal commodities.

Members of the committee attended the meeting, representatives of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, the Foreign Trade Authority, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Agricultural Development Fund, and the General Grain Organization.

Last February, Al-Fadhli said that food supplies and reserves in Saudi Arabia are stable and there are no concerns about its abundance in local markets amid the current Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

He said that the Food Abundance Committee, emanating from the Food Security Committee, is holding meetings continuously to monitor the abundance of food commodities in the local market and follow up on global and local supply chains.

The minister emphasized the strength and durability of the food system in the Kingdom.
