RIYADH — The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli occupation authority’s permission for extremists to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the occupation forces, which is a flagrant violation of the rules of international law and the Geneva Conventions in this regard.

He also stressed the need for Israel to respect the historic and legal status quo in the occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and its sanctities and to stop all illegal measures, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities to preserve the safety of Al-Aqsa Mosque and worshipers, and the need for Israel to abide by its obligations as an occupying power in accordance with international humanitarian law.

In Kuwait, the State of Kuwait issued on Thursday a strong "condemnation and denunciation" of Israel's decision to allow extremists to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of government forces.

The Kuwait's Foreign Ministry, in a statement, described the act as part of a continuing trend of "serious violations" committed by the "Israeli occupational authority," which "constitute a flagrant violation of international law and the Geneva Conventions, stoke a spirit of violence and tension and threaten international peace and security."

It went on to call on the United Nations Security Council to "assume its responsibilities to curb these violations and compel the occupying power to stop its attacks on the brotherly Palestinian people, their land and their holy sites."

In Doha, the State of Qatar too condemned in the strongest terms the storming of dozens of Israeli settlers of Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces and the storming of Al-Qibli prayer hall and the assault on worshipers and civilians in the mosque.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned of Israel's systematic attempts to change the religious and historical status of Al-Aqsa Mosque. It also held the Israeli occupation authorities responsible for the cycle of violence that will result from the repeated storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the disregard for the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world.

The Qatari Ministry urged the international community to take urgent action to stop the Israeli attacks against the brotherly Palestinian people.

Meanwhile, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, on Thursday, condemned Israel for allowing Jewish extremists to break into Al Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the Israeli police.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Haitham Abu Al Foul stressed that Al Aqsa Mosque, with its total area of 144 dunums, is a place of worship for Muslims only, and that the Jerusalem and Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department is the only institution allowed to administer the affairs of Al Aqsa Mosque and organize entry to the mosque.

He called on Israel, as the occupying power, to stop all violations and actions against AlAqsa Mosque, respect the sanctity of the mosque and halt all measures aiming at changes to the legal and historical status quo in the holy city of Jerusalem. — SPA
