NEOM — NEOM Green Hydrogen Company’s board announced on Sunday the appointment of David Edmondson as Chief Executive Officer of the company, one of the recently launched companies that are accelerating the impressive progress already made by the giga-project in the northwest of Saudi Arabia.

NGHC is a joint venture between NEOM, ACWA Power and Air Products to build a world-scale, green-hydrogen-based ammonia production facility powered by renewable energy. NGHC will establish the green hydrogen facility, which will be the first of several similar plants expected to make it a hub for green hydrogen production going onstream in 2026. NEOM will use the green hydrogen it produces to fuel clean, autonomous electric vehicles, among other solutions.

Nadhmi Al-Nasr, CEO of NEOM and Chairman of NGHC, said Edmondson will have full responsibility for establishing all aspects of the joint venture, including building the future organization.

"The appointment of David Edmondson as NGHC's CEO is a natural follow-up to our recent agreement to build the world's largest green hydrogen plant, which will produce 1.2 million tonnes of hydrogen per year,” Al-Nasr said. “We aim to revolutionizing the global energy market and creating a circular economy as we redefine the parameters of sustainable living and abundant resource production, all in harmony with nature.”

Edmondson is a veteran at Air Products whose career at the company spans more than 34 years and a variety of leadership roles in engineering and global gases in the Middle East and across the world. His recent roles at Air Products include Vice President of Business Transformation as well as VP and Executive Project Director for the Jazan integrated gasification project. Edmondson has a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the University of Liverpool and an MBA from Kingston University. — SG
