The Elysee Secretary General, Alexis Kohler, read names of the new cabinet line-up at a ceremony at the Elisee -- selected from various parties in line with the approach of the re-elected president, Emmnauel Macron, to inject new blood in the state administration.

The new line-up comprises 17 ministers and six commissioned ministers.

Kohler stated that the French Ambassador to Britain Cathrine Colonna, from the Republicans party, would succeed Jean-Yves Le Drian as foreign minister.

Colonna had occupied several government posts and served as the Elysee spokesperson and the minister of European affairs in the second term of the former president, Jacques Chirac.

The minsters of finance and interior, respectively Bruno Le Maire and Gerard Darmanin, retained their posts in the new cabinet formation.

Kohler added that the former state minister for social economy, Olivia Gregoire, was appointed as the government spokeswoman.

Gregoire is a member of the president's political party, "La Republique en marche." Sebastien Lecornu, also a Republican, was named minister of the armed forces, succeeding Florence Parly.

The new prime minister is tasked with leading the ruling party's electoral campaign, in the coming days, for membership in the general assembly, due to be held in two rounds on June 12 and 19. — Agencies
